Without knowing Adreian Payne's plans yet, Michigan State now knows Gary Harris will be back for his sophomore year. Obviously that's good news for head coach Tom Izzo who needs better luck next winter with his players' health. Too many injuries slowed this team down in 2013, in my judgment, even though few of them missed games altogether.
Harris needs his shoulders to be fully healthy, Branden Dawson needs to be ready to run like a deer and Travis Trice needs to be 100 per cent as well. And that's just those three. It's tough for any team to remain healthy through the long schedule. There are so many demands and I wrote about this during the winter here-- everyone is worried about football injuries, but at least there are pads in that sport. Basketball players get thumped all the time. MSU's keys for next season, in my mind, are legitimate healthy players start to finish. We'll see.
