I'm watching Matthew Staudt calling the play by play at the moment (Wednesday) on the Big Ten Network of Purdue's men's basketball game from Tuesday night against Northern State. He texts me that the school is in Aberdeen, South Dakota. It's an exhibition game and Purdue won 78-46 with Robbie Hummel back in action after missing last season with another ACL injury.
So many questions for this coming season. Is Ohio State really the best team with Wisconsin second? Those two have first team pre season A-P All Americans-- Jared Sullinger and Jordan Taylor. Is Michigan better than Michigan State and for that matter how good are the Spartans? So hard to tell with so many new players on the roster.
What about Minnesota and Illinois, could they be much improved? I doubt much will come from Penn State, Nebraska, Northwestern and Iowa, but that leaves eight other teams to make their mark. How many make the NCAA tournament? I think there are more questions entering this men's Big Ten season than I can ever remember.
