WILX TV is owned by Gray Television out of Atlanta. Among its other holdings-- KOLN TV in Lincoln, Nebraska. Dan Hedman worked with us in sports for a couple of years-- he's from Massachusetts. He was offered a better sports job at our sister station in Lincoln and he's been there for the past five years. He'll be reporting for us this weekend from the MSU vs. Nebraska game.
Then I get a call Wednesday afternoon from Roger McCoy whom I had not heard from since he left WILX in 1999. He went to WBNS TV, the CBS affiliate in Columbus when he left here. He stayed six years there and has spent the past 5 1/2 years as a professor in broadcast journalism at Nebraska. He follows the Cornhuskers and he visited on the radio with me Thursday morning. He had made his career at WKBD TV 50 in Detroit when that station aired a 10pm news and we brought him here to Lansing with a good offer in 1993. He knows Dan Hedman and the station in Lincoln and he enjoys teaching and still does some video journalism on the side.
Those two will be in the stadium Saturday in Lincoln-- a small world when you consider two former colleagues are there and working in different entities.
