It's not often that Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State are the finalists for a single recruit, let alone a four star football player. But they indeed were the final three for Chicago De La Salle High School star Jamarco Jones, a big time offensive tackle prospect. Jones chose the Buckeyes on Thursday and the Ohio State branding can be mighty tough to beat. As good a year as Michigan has had, the Wolverines don't get all the stars and the Wolverines indeed played second fiddle to Ohio State in Jones' final decision.
Ohio State now has 14 verbals and Michigan is at about the same number. Michigan State has 12 and while the Spartans have some key prospects when they shoot high with the biggest name schools in the sport, obviously the competition gets tougher. It's tough for MSU to recruit against those two, plus Notre Dame and anyone else in the Midwest for top tier players. MSU has managed to develop a number of players once they get to East Lansing and that likely will add to the Spartans' formula to future success as well.
