Quinnipiac Number One?

It has not been a typical college hockey season around these parts-- Michigan and Michigan State are at the bottom of the CCHA standings so interest has been benign for much of the winter.  Neither one should make the NCAA tournament nor make it to the CCHA final four for that matter next month in Detroit.

In the national polls Quinnipiac is ranked number one by a mile over Minnesota.  Most people don't even know where it isw-- Camden, New Jersey.  The Panthers as they are known.  They have 12 players 23 years old or older and only one teen ager on their roster and that's been a big key. Michigan State has ten teen agers and only five players 23 or older and that youth I think has been a crux of the problem this winter, especially on offense.  Mature players beat younger players much of the time at the college level.  Some players leave high school and play in the juniors to improve their game before enrolling in college and so they are older whyen they play at the collegiate level.

Michigan and Michigan State will have older players next year-- and it should help-- sure doesn't seem like it could hurt right?
