Early May-- in sports around here it sure is a quiet time compared with say, March Madness, right? The Kentucky Derby is the lead story around here, primarily because it airs on channel ten. MSU baseball is on the road and the softball team is home Saturday and the news angle around that team is will it lose all its Big Ten games or finally break through with a win? The softball team hosts Northwestern in a 1pm doubleheader Saturday and the Spartans are 0-17 in league play. There are high school games Saturday, but the fields are soaked from heavy rains this week and who knows what gets washed out.
It's different around here when the Pistons and Red Wings aren't in the playoffs because no one pays nearly as much attention to the NBA and NHL post seasons when the locals are not involved. The Tigers host Chicago for the week end and the big question in Detroit is-- how will Delmon Young be returned to play and what reaction will he get since his anti semitic incident occured? the Tigers head to the West Coast next week and that includes a meet up with Brandon Inge and the Oakland A's. That's about it-- enjoy the week end.
