The NFL draft begins on Thursday night at 8 o'clock on ESPN. The first round may go until 1am which of course makes no sense but that's how it is set up. It continues on Friday at 6:30pm with rounds two and three. The final rounds 4-7 will be held Saturday afternoon. For the first time since 1953, the Big Ten may have no one chosen in the first round-- which tells you in part why the Big Ten struggled this past season. Better players on other teams right?
As usual, the Detroit Lions have a prominent pick-- this year number five. And as usual, numerous players are potential Lions picks because as usual they need help almost everywhere.
MSU has three juniors who declared early-- Dion Sims, William Gholston and Le'Veon Bell, all hoping for an early selection. Bell is the toughest one to figure. He thinks he might be the best running back available and some NFL sources aren't even sure he'll be chosen at all because of his lack of speed. Stay tuned. The Lions have a pick in each of the seven rounds unless they make a trade.
