At the moment I count 17 Detroit Pistons, more or less. And only 12 can suit up for games at any given time. So someone has to go between now and opening night. Chauncey Billups is returning and so is Rasheed Wallace, although he calls himself a coach. The Pistons have signed an Italian league guard and they have three draft choices from last month. They have Josh Smith in the fold and they have a new head coach in Maurice Cheeks. What we don't know is will they have different results this coming season?
They have had little fan interest the past few years and whether that changes or not remains to be seen. Billups was popular when he was in Detroit the first time-- and if he helps the team win then he'll be popular again. And what changes remain because the Pistons are trying to reinvent themselves from the past five lousy, losing seasons.
