The first game of a Michigan State football season, especially when it's at home, is always a big deal in the community. And a Friday night game against a solid opponent like Boise State, adds to the fun especially for students. They still aren't quite out of their summertime mode and seeing what Spartan football is like, especially this year with the new $10 million video boards in full swing should be special.
It will be hot for sure-- 90 some degrees and the campus will be packed-- it's a normal work day up until late afternoon and then the partying on the holiday week end begins. I remember that first night game 25 years ago against USC on Labor Day evening itself. Several days beforehand MSU looked at how the lights worked over the stadium for the very first time and what a magical setting it truly was. This will be MSU's 12th night game-- the Spartans are 7-4 in these home games at night. And this one could have plenty of fireworks since Boise is 50-3 in its last 53 games. Let the season begin!
