These Big Ten schools just can't stay out of the news-- off the fields and courts. Dating back to Rich Rodriguez and his Michigan practice days in the summer, the conference has been busy with controversial stories. Ohio State already went through Jim Tressel and probation and now the school President is gone and it is being spun that he "retired." Really? Gordon Gee is indeed 69 and he has had a habit of making controversial statements regarding athletics over the years.
The pressure on him to get out had to be high. He says he is doing on his own and it really does not matter. Ohio State probably deserves better behavior from someone being paid $1.9 million per year. Penn State and Rutgers have had their own issues in recent days of course. If nothing else Gee got Rutgers off the front of the sports pages-- who is next in Big Ten controversy?
