Michigan State football coach Mark Dantonio has given his players off until Sunday-- they split up after Thursday morning practice. When they return it's game week preparation time for next Friday night's opener against Western Michigan.
Dantonio says he'll tell his key players Monday who starts against the Broncos but hints he has already made up his mind. The two key positions of curiosity from the first three weeks of camp are quarterback and running back. The guessing here is that Andrew Maxwell starts again at quarterback, but I expect to see several others in the game as well, let alone the first three soft non conference match-ups. Dantonio downplayed freshman Damion Terry and his chances and I still think he's more likely to redshirt than start a game this fall. Several will likely run with the ball too. I don't think it's as noteworthy who starts against Western-- I think it's more significant who starts the September 21st game at Notre Dame the Spartans first true test of the season. Dantonio was pleased that there were no major injuries in the first three weeks of camp.
