Normally I am not a Big Ten tournament guy. Whoever wins it Sunday in Chicago gets 15 minutes of glory before the NCAA tournament selection show begins. And all anyone cares about from that point to the end of the season is who goes where in the brackets.
It's a bit different this year in that teams in the Big Ten need wins to cement good seeds and that includes Michigan State. Neutral floors in basketball are the only way to go. No home cooking and no issues with crowds and officials being influenced from the stands. Michigan should beat Penn State Thursday and after that who knows. I don't know. I don't know if Michigan State will beat Iowa, though I would not necessarily bet against the Spartans.
With four Big Ten teams ranked in the top ten this is a wide open tournament and figuring who can survive come Sunday remains to be seen. Picking a survivor, I mean winner, out of all this will be a tough call. I think MSU has a tougher bracket than Michigan and the Wolverines are two seeds lower. But it's been that kind of year. So we'll all be interested to see who wins and moves on to Sunday before the tournament show. MSU will bus to Chicago Thursday and bus home after the Spartans' final game to get ready for the final portion of the season to see what that brings.
