Okay, the NBA is now locked out as of midnight-- no surprise whatsoever. The NFL is still locked out. What's the future hold? The economy has a measure of impact on two major American sports leagues-- but the high paid athletes don't like the deals as they are proposed for the future by owners who want to curb, in many cases, losses. I think the NFL will play its season one way or another. The NBA I think has a chance to abort next season altogether.
The NBA to me is in much bigger trouble. Owners there are willing, in some cases, to shut it all down rather than millions of dollars more as some claim they are losing. The league wants $800 million returned from the players per year in the future-- and the owners want a hard salary cap. Good luck guys. We'll remember the reigning NBA champion Dallas Mavericks. Who knows when Lebron and company will get a chance to win their first league title.
