Maybe it was just to get the guys going in the studios-- but I've made a big time Sexton Big Reds boys high school basketball bet for this season. Sexton, the class B, defending state champ, has enough talent in my judgment, to go 14-0 in the CAAC Blue division and win the games by an average of 18 points per contest. They already are winning by a 42-point average since they opened last Friday with an 89-47 win over Grand Ledge. Sexton plays at Jackson Friday and while I don't expect a score that big, my sense is it will be by double figures nonetheless. We'll see.
I don't know about the six non conference games because Sexton will be on the road to several touogh gymns. But in the league I just don't see the talent on other teams to beat Sexton. the Big Reds should dominate the other five teams in the district in Eaton Rapds come March. Lansing Catholic will be perhaps the most noteworthy challenger but the Cougars don't match up with Sexton. Stay tuned.
