There is no month for covering sports like March-- it's why they call it March Madness and it's a lot more than just basketball. One more February weekend and then the onslaught begins. Besides the hoops, there's pro golf in Florida leading to the Masters, plenty of NHL hockey, spring training baseball and the college spring teams begin playing home events.
But the MHSAA state tournaments take up the first three weeks of the month and midway through it all the college basketball tournaments are played-- Big Ten and then NCAA. And the NCAA can run into the first week of April depending on area teams and their strength and luck.
Oh and the CCHA hockey playoffs are contested and then the NCAA tournament and it should be lighter at that end this year because Michigan and Michigan State aren't very good. But you never know either. Pistons, Red Wings, Tigers, they're all in the equation and that doesn't include the surprise stories that can break at any time let alone March. It can be madness and it's right around the corner.
