MSU and the NCAA Baseball Tournament

Did you know Michigan State has not played in the NCAA baseball tournament since 1979?   Well, the current Spartans are 21-8 despite two bad home losses to Central Michigan and Oakland within the last week.  MSU is 5-1 in the Big Ten, atop the standings heading to Ohio State for three games this weekend.

Not only could MSU win the Big Ten title but the Spartans could get a McLane Stadium first round berth. That would be something considering the program's sorry past of 31 years without an NCAA tournament bid.  It's a young MSU team but the league isn't very good, as usual.  The Big Ten has no teams ranked in the top 25, again.  Opportunity is there and it's a reasonable goal to shoot for considering the start the Spartans have mustered.   But they need to try and avoid the bad losses to the non-conference teams they suffered in the last week.
