It's Michigan vs. Michigan State Sunday in basketball-- both the men's and women's teams in action against each other. It may be Super Bowl Sunday but MSU fans will be mighty low if the men's team loses in the Breslin Center to Michigan for the fourth straight game. But I just don't see that happening. Michigan had lost 11 straight at Breslin before last year's mighty upset-- Michigan had lost six straight games to that point.
This Michigan team is 17-6 and 7-3 in the Big Ten-- but only one true road win at mediocre Purdue and it doesn't bode well for a frenzied Breslin Center crowd. Draymond Green's knee won't make any difference.
On the women's side it's different. I doubt the "crowd" will be much of a factor in Ann Arbor. Both teams are inconsistent-- MSU won by five in the first meeting in Breslin-- but this isn't Suzy Merchant's best team and I'm not fooled by two wins over Penn State. Michigan will be charged to play and the Spartans are experimenting with their lineup. This is a toss up-- I'll go with Michigan by one. So it will be a split on the day.
