Jim Tressel made the Big Ten football news headlines earlier this week-- his issues are a bigger deal than at Michigan State where two projected starters for next season have court appearances due April 19th in Colorado-- linebacker Max Bullough and tight end Brian Linthicum. The latter is a senior and 23 years old and he should know better than to get in a bar altercation. But that's what is charged after a late night Wednesday arrest of the two in the Aspen area.
No comment from MSU people-- that's to be expected. The two will have explaining to do. Alcohol is a factor, like it is for most students, 21 or not. Mark Dantonio will have to deal with it around spring practice and who knows if playing time will be affected. Probably not and I have no opinion on player discipline anywhere other than the fact that no school in the big time sports business is immune from these issues and that includes Michigan, Michigan State and the like.
