Lions Better Not Blow This Game

The Detroit Lions host the 2-10 Minnesota Vikings at 1pm Sunday in Ford Field and hard as this is to say, it seems like this is a must win situation.  After starting 5-0 the Lions could only think about making the playoffs.  But they've lost five of their last seven through a variety of means and it's time to take care of business against a team they should beat.  Why do the Vikings care if they win in Detroit?  They're playing for nothing, what is usually the Lions' role over years past.

Minnesota has a million injuries and a rookie quarterback in Christian Ponder.  He's already worried about the Lions' defense even with Ndamukong Suh missing the second game of his suspension.  The Lions need to tighten up their act and stay away from the stupid penalties that have plagued them in recent weeks.

The Lions need to somehow get to 10-6 and that means another home win over San Diego.  They'll need to split road games against Oakland and Green Bay.  I don't think 9-7 makes it-- but 10-6 should even if the Lions get knocked out of the playoffs in the early going.  At least that would indicate significant progress from last year.  But it's not over yet and a win over the Vikings is first on the challenge list.
