The Duffy Daugherty Award Dinner was terrific again Thursday night. And he may be 83, but Roy Kramer hasn't lost very much. He gave an impassioned 15-minute speech about his love for football and the people who he met through the years in the game, players and coaches. Some 400 people were in the audience including tables purchased by coaching staffs at Michigan, MSU, Ferris State and CMU. That kind of support gives the Daugherty dinner going each year.
It will be six months before the 2014 winner is named but Kramer, who has a long career in college athletics following his high school coaching stints, was a terrific selection. A number of his former East Lansing and CMU players were in attendance. It was a good night.
