Jake Senior Has Been All Class

Jake Boss, Sr., is stepping down as volunteer assistant baseball coach at Michigan State when this season ends.  He has spent the first four of his son's seasons as the Spartans' head coach as a confidant and advisor in the dugout, on the trips and at the practices.  He's been in the office throughout the year.  And his son listens to his dad-- wise move.  Michigan State baseball is moving forward not backward and Senior has helped considerably.  Not surprising.

I had two sons play for Jake at Lansing Catholic.  He was there for seven years after 31 seasons at Lansing Everett.  He is deeply religious and classy, principaled to a fault and he expects a lot from his players, but he is very, very fair.  Our kids respected Senior a great deal and so did I.  It was a sad time when our kids moved on and I didn't get to see Jake Sr. as much as I had over six years.  I hope he has years of enjoyment watching the Spartans and his favorite high school teams in the future.  He's earned it and he deserves it.
