You're a hearty Detroit Red Wings fan if you stayed up late Tuesday night to watch their opening round game in the NHL playoffs. The game with Anaheim did not begin until 10:40pm Michigan time. It ended at 1:03am and because the game was close you could only go to bed with the knowledge of who won by watching virtually the entire game. Next season the Red Wings will be in the Eastern Conference so the only way they'd play late night game would be in the Stanley Cup finals.
I like Anaheim in five in this series-- the Red Wings don't have the firepower of years past. I like Jimmy Howard, but he's not a shutout goalie either. The Ducks only lost 12 games during the regular season and they are solid on defense. Thursday's game begins at 10pm, one half hour earlier so maybe more fans can stay up until 12:30am to watch. Unless of course it goes overtime which a couple of the opening games did on Tuesday. But they didn't end at one in the morning either.
