Winning two road games in men's Big Ten basketball in the same week is a tall order, but pre season league title favorite Ohio State faces that prospect to earn a share of the crown which Michigan State now holds in part. Can the Buckeyes win at Northwestern? Well they are 7 1/2 point favorites. Let's assume Ohio State wins which I think will happen. That sends the Buckeyes to East Lansing Sunday in difficult surroundings to say the least. No one wins in the Breslin Center, but some pressure will be on the Spartans on senior day to earn the title outright. It would be a heckuva game. Or the Buckeyes might let down if they don't beat Northwestern.
Ohio State needs to play hard for 40 minutes and together and it's been a problem in the past five games in which the Buckeyes have lost three. They haven't been in synch that I can see since their 39-game home winning streak ended in the loss to the Spartans. Then there's Michigan. The Wolverines have to win at both Illinois and Penn State and I predict that won't happen. Michigan is shaky on the road, as most teams are and the two games they play yet will have crowds largely supportive of the home unit. But Michigan is hoping to have a shot now that Indiana has beaten Michigan State and kept at least a portion of the race alive.
