Okay I understand why Ohio State appears to have the best team in men's Big Ten basketball. The Buckeyes are ranked second, they are 7-0 after crushing 4th ranked unbeaten Duke Tuesday night 85-63 in Columbus. They have a legitimate player of the year candidate in Jared Sulllinger. But the rest of the Big Ten? Who's next? Wisconsin? We'll see after their Big Ten/ACC game Wednesday night at North Carolina. I think Michigan State is already better than Michigan right now. That could change of course but the Spartans are athletic if they don't have a lot of depth at this point.
I have them 13-2 with 13 straight wins heading into the January 5th game at Wisconsin. Injuries are a fear and the season is long. Already Trevor Mbakwe at Minnesota and Tim Abromaitis at Notre Dame, the two best players on their respective teams, are done for the season with ACL inijuries. That could happen anywhere let alone Michigan State.
But I'll bet this team handles most everyone else in the Big Ten. And who knows, that regular sesaon finale at home against Ohio State March 4th may have more on the line than just the Spartans' senior day ceremonies.
