Just a hunch. If Michigan State beats Ohio State Saturday, which I believe will happen, then the Spartans will be in the hunt for the Big Ten title through the end of the season. But if the Buckeyes win then I think the Spartans will fall out of it somewhere else down the line. They should win at Indiana the following week, but everything is up for grabs in the remaining games if the Spartans' don't show improvement on offense and the Buckeyes take this game home as a victory.
I can't believe the Spartans are as weak as they have shown on offense and that includes all of Le'Veon Bell's yards which I have to see in some consistent form against the Buckeyees to believe that this is a running game that can sustain itself. Eastern Michigan was a very weak team and what a struggle start to near the finish. The pressure is on QB Andrew Maxwell to show that his offense has improved whether it's his fault or not.
I have my doubts about the Buckeyes who are making their first road trip - and that's why I like State - simply because of the home field. And the crowd will be supportive because this is a big game which EMU was not.
