Like most other people I prefer an extensive college football playoff. And this week end NCAA tournaments in divisions two and three are being played-- good for them. But I also enjoy the 35 bowl games, only because the bowl pool sheets are fun and the games are hard to predict because the match ups are pretty even across the board.
Three meaningless bowl games will be played Saturday and we're off and running toward the January 9th LSU vs. Alabama rematch which should be stirring like the first game was stirring. Ten Big Ten teams are in bowl games-- my bowl sheet has the Big Ten going 4-6, but I have MSU beating Georgia in the Outback Bowl-- just a hunch, maybe because the Spartans deserve a break after what happened to them against Wisconsin.
Bowl games are a tough sell in this economy to traveling fans and the seat locations for most all of them are lousy-- greedy sponsors! But the warm weather sites are fun for fans to assemble and MSU fans will get a new sensation if MSU wins in Tampa January 2nd because the school has lost five straight bowl games. It comes down to the team, in many instances, who wants to win the most. Enjoy the bowl season.
