I Could Hear the Grief in Guerre's Voice

Lynn Chandnois died Tuesday-- the former MSU running back great from 1946-49.  I didn't realize he was such a close friend of George Guerre, another Spartan great who played on the same teams. They grew up together and attended Flint Central High School.  George is very somber but he recalled their fun times together earlier to me Friday.  George also new Norm Masters, 77, who died Thursday from cancer in suburban Detroit.  Masters was another MSU great from 1953-55.  George is a robust 86 himself and he'll once again be the oldest former MSU player next week end at the players' golf outing and dinner in Williamston, the night prior to the MSU spring game.  George will smile but it won't be the same without his buddy Chandnois.  He told me the two of them used to play putt putt golf at Hawk Hollow on Fridays just to have fun since George doesn't play regular golf.
