Good Week for Nagel and Setas

I'm sure they are disappointed but DeWitt's Liz Nagel and East Lansing's Jacqueline Setas acquitted themselves well in the 96th Michigan women's amateur golf championship played this week at Michigan State's Forest Akers Weste Course.  Nagel is likely to be the top player as a junior on the MSU team this fall.  She made it to the semi-finals before letting her match get away and lost in 19 holes.  She was medalist after the first two days.

Setas is only 16 and has two years of high school play remaining and she had 2010 champ Natalie Brehm down 3 after nine in her Friday morning semi-final before letting it get away on the back side in a one up loss.  Both are disappointed sure, but the experience will only help.  Match play is quirky as both of them know.  Setas was second in the medal play to Nagel and now the recruitment of her begins in earnest on September 1st.  Setas has not rule dout Michigan State among schools for which she shows interest.
