Basketball news in May? Well for the NBA that's normal since we're in the midst of the playoffs, but high school and college? Not likely. But Tom Izzo should be happy because he has another guard to use ASAP next season-- Brandon Wood. He's from Valparaiso-- that's the college not the town itself. Wood averaged 16.7 points per game last season and has an extra year of eligibility. He has graduated so he can play elsewhere without sitting out and he finally chose MSU. He must be pretty good because he also considered the NBA draft. The Spartans will need depth at guard and who knows how fast and how much he'll fit in but he does have division one experience.
Henton chose Providence over Iowa State after being released by Dayton. That's a busy list of schools for anyone and Henton has not even graduated from Eastern High School yet. He was 30 minmutes late for his 3pm signing ceremony Friday but he needed his parents there even though Rod Watts his high school coach couldn't make it. Brian Gregory left Dayton and Henton didn't like that Dayton did not retain Gregory's assistant who ended up at Iowa State. But Providence is a Big East school and Henton will obviously get a chance to see how he fares against the nation's best.
