January weather makes it tough to keep busy if you don't ski. So what's on televison Sunday? Well if you're a Big Ten basketball fan you're in luck. Three games of local note to choose from.
Tom Izzo's MSU men's teams is at Indiana at 1pm. The Assembly Hall will be rocking. If MSU wins the Spartans are right there with Michigan to fight it out for the Big Ten title and a loss is not catastrophic-- just don't get injuries. Indiana should be tough to beat if the Hoosiers really are that good. It would be an upset in my mind if MSU wins.
On ESPN2 at 4pm, 15th ranked Purdue at MSU for a women's game. I don't think Purdue is nearly as good as its rating after losing at Iowa last weekend and barely winning at home Thursday over Northwestern. Purdue has had some illness but will have to play mighty well to win in East Lansing. It's doubtful to me that MSU loses after losing at Nebraska Thursday. But MSU has to play well too.
And it's no lock Michigan's men will win their 6pm game at Illinois. The Wolverines are the better team and they are favored but the pressure is on them not the Illini I think. Michigan with a victory will be ranked number one in the Associated Press weekly poll Monday for the first time since the Fab Five era of 1992.
