The long high school sports year ends on Saturday-- state titles to be deetermined in girls soccer and softball, boys golf and baseball. There are several mid Michigan golf teams involved in the finals Friday and Saturday at Ferris State and Michigan State-- doubtful a local team champion will emerge. In softball, Dansville is alive in class D and is pretty good. In soccer, Okemos is a slight underdog perhaps to Troy in the division one final at noon Saturday at Michigan State's DeMartin Stadium. It can be seen live on MHSAA.tv. And in baseball Lansing Catholic meets Mancelona at 5pm Friday in the division 3 semi-finals. If the Cougars win they play at 6:30pm in the final game of the school year in the state title game. That game also would be televised o n MHSAA.tv. The softball and baseball semi-finals and finals all will be played at Bailey Park in Battle Creek.
At this point any local teams winning would be at least a mild upset. But they occur often and in spring sports especially so good luck to all the locals this week end and enjoy the summer.
