It's gotta be tough these days for the football players at Lansing Catholic High School. So close to a state title, but a bad game against Flint Powers last Saturday and so the Cougars finish 13-1 and state runners up in division five. But the post season honors are coming in and quarterback Cooper Rush had a big day Thursday.
He was named the Detroit New dream team quarterback for the State of Michigan. Then he was named Gatorade's Michigan player of the year and is now under consideration for national player of the year which includes academic achievement-- Rush is a 3.96 student and headed to CMU next fall. He'll be one of five quarterbacks on scholarship in Mount Pleasant and while they all may not last he figures to redshirt and still get his shot down the road. I'm still wondering if he'll actually go ahead and sign ini February or will some other school come in and pick him off... stay tuned.
