I joined WILX TV in July, 1980 after 11 years at the old WJIM-TV. It took seven weeks of negotiations from the first thought of moving to actually doing it. When I joined WILX the studio was a 33-mile commute to Jackson. I had to make that drive for about 8 years. Then the Lansing studio opened on the southwest side of town and life got easier.
