One month from tonight, Tuesday, Michigan State opens its football season at home against Western Michigan. I studied these first three home games today-- wow, the visitors aren't very good, at least entering the season-- Western Michigan, South Florida and Youngstown State. Western is picked fifth in its MAC division, South Florida scored one touchdown in its last 15 quarters last season and both teams have new head coaches-- the other guys were both fired. Youngstown State has a four year starting quarterback-- when's the last time such a guy played in Spartan Stadium? But let's be real, MSU having a tough time against Youngstown State? If that happens the Spartans have more problems than we realize. They'll be 3-0 and ranked in the top 25 and all fired up to play at Notre Dame. And like I always say, that's when the season begins after spring training is finished.
