CCHA Trying to Deal With Defections

The CCHA issued a statement Wednesday saying it understands why Miami of Ohio is leaving for the 2013-14 season to become part of the new six team National Collegiate Hockey Conference.  The CCHA is losing the Big Ten schools to their own six team league since Penn State is adding the sport.  The CCHA says it is dealing with the remaining membership and hoping to continue the league which is now 40 years old.  Fred Pletsch is the new commissioner who took over when Tom Anastos became head coach at Michigan State.  He has his hands full and he needs new members.  I believe he needs to lose another member in Alaska, but whether that happens or not remains to be seen.  The landscape of college hockey is about to change dramatically and the CCHA as it is now made up will change forever in another two seasons.
