I thought Wednesday would be a relatively quiet day. Then the Philadelphia Eagles hired Chip Kelly away from Oregon and the day heated up rapidly. I had planned to write at least part of my Sunday Lansing State Journal column in late afternoon, but time got tight.
The word came in from Penn State that MSU had some basketball players fighting each other. The story escalated with Tom Izzo's statement. It was unique to say the least and was a new lead for the 6pm sports.
Then Tiger Woods made the news with reports he may re marry his ex wife Elin. Manti T'eo saved the biggest story for last and that one dominated even the news later on during the evening. And former MSU coach John L. Smith found a new job and it seemed like something was always breaking from one moment to the next. It's the nature of the business. Slow days can turn to frantic days in a moment's notice and that has never changed over the past 43 years on the air.
