Busy Monday

Wow-- football season must just about be here.  August 6th was loaded with stories to cover.  The Perles golf outing at the Country Club of Lansing drew plenty of luminaries-- Gov. Snyder and his Lt. Gov. Calley among them and both spoke at the luncheon on the patio.  Others on hand-- Izzo, Dantonio, Perles, Frank Kelly, Secchia, Hollis, Lloyd Carr and a host of MSU assistant coaches.  It's a big deal on a gorgeous day and George always gets good weather, or so it seems.

High school football practice began on this day and 110,000 high school athletes in eight fall sports are busy with opening drills.  Jack Wallace is all excited at Okemos and he is the noteworthy newcomer in the area.

The Basketball Coaches Ass'n of Michigan golf outing is at Walnut Hills and Tom Izzo was hoping to visit there after spending lunch time with the Perles people at CCL.

The Tigers open a four game home series with the New York Yankees and the NASCARS head to MIS later in the week for the 400-mile race on Sunday.  Busy week like I say and now football practice is under way including the Detroit Lions who play host to the Cleveland Browns in their first exhibition game Friday night.

Oh and the Olympics have seven more nights of action in London.  I'm breathless just mentioning all of this.
