It's called "Prepapalooza", an unofficial term, but it fits. This Saturday is the busiest high school sports day of the year in Michigan. The MHSAA has post season tournament activity going in all of its sports. And it's a busy day for the newspapers too because gathering all the scores, stats and stories is not easy. It's tougher than high school football and basketball.
The state track meets will all be held with both boys and girls involved. And in baseball and softball dikstrict tournaments are held at the same sites. And baseball teams will be busy with the Diamond Classic quarter-finals on Monday, semi-finals Tuesday and championship game Wednesday. Then the baseball and softball Regionals are played a week from Saturday. Some teams' pitchers will have arms that are worn out! It's crazy that Michigan State baseball and softball are done basically a month ahead of the high schools-- the preps have it figured out and the colleges do not, simple as that.
