Bollman's Hiring Understandable

Coaching is like a lot of other businesses-- it's not what you know but who you know.  Okay you have to be considered a good coach we all get that.  But Jim Bollman knows Mark Dantonio from previous stints together at Ohio State and Michigan State, the latter under Nick Saban.

Bollman is to become MSU's new offensive coordinator replacing Dan  Roushar.  He's been around like most veteran college assistants have these days.  He coached at Boston College as an assistant last season, then became offensive line coach at Purdue in January.  He never made it to spring practice apparently-- MSU's offer was better than the $240,000 per year Purdue would pay.

Is it a goold hire?  I don't know.  I think what's a bigger deal is who is the head coach, what is the philosophy and more significantly how good are the players?  Le'Veon Bell won't be around so the running game this fall needs plenty of help no matter who the offensive coordinator happens to be.  I guess if Dantonio likes the hire then it's a good hire for him, right?
