Big Ten Hockey Will Use a Shootout

The Big Ten will use the CCHA's shootout system if games still end tied after overtimes next season.  It is the Big Ten's inaugural hockey season for six schools.  Three points will be awarded in the standings for each game.  Teams tied after overtime get one point apiece and the shootout winner gets the third point, similar to the CCHA's standings format.  The Big Ten's inaugural season begins in the fall.  Shootout wins will count as ties in overall records, similar to the CCHA format.
