Big Ten Football Media Day

It's been held for years in Chicago-- the unofficial start to the Big Ten football season its annual media day with reporters from around the Midwest attending.  All of the coaches speak and they each bring three players.  New Penn State coach Bill O'Brien changed his mind and brought some players with him to speak.

It used to be the Big Ten Skywriters' tour-- a small airplane ferried writers around to all the Big Ten campuses in September.  But times sure have changed since those days back ini the 1950s and 60s.  Mark Dantonio didn't say much about Penn State Thursday other than the Spartans would listen if any Penn State players asked about transferring.  He is far more interested in talking about his own team and its quest for that elusive Rose Bowl bid.

Brady Hoke doesn't know if his suspended players will practice let alone play in the season opener against Alabama in Dallas.  Frank Clark and Fitz Toussaint both got in trouble with the law last week and were suspended indefinitely.  It's weird because two years ago Michigan's probation was the headline story with Rich Rodriguez... last year it was Ohio State with Jim Tressel let go.  And this year Penn State gets center stage.  Not all the talk anymore is about what happens on the field.  But it's the meda days as we know them in this day and age.
