The high school season is winding down-- next week the 51st Diamond Classic baseball pairings will be announced on Tuesday afternoon. I'll make Holt the number one seed and Grand Ledge number two. They could meet four times in the next few weeks-- Holt plays host to Grand Ledge in a doubleheader at 4pm next Thursday-- both are unbeaten in CAAC Blue division play. They are also in the same district and of course they could meet in the Classic.
Holt's Justin Alleman has pitched two no hitters this season-- he is headed to Michigan State providing he isn't chosen prominently in the amateur draft next month. His plan at the moment is to become a Spartan and he is a terrific prospect. And look out for Bath pitcher Nick Stiles. He has a 0.00 earned run average so far this season and the Bees should get a Classic bid.
East Lansing is dangerous in the tournament, but otherwise the winner likely will be defending champion Grand Ledge or Holt. So what else is new right?
