Baseball thoughts on a Friday in May:
The Detroit Tigers, by default, are the best team in the American League's Centrral Division-- not the Cleveland Indians. Cleveland will stumble, so I say to friends with bets out about their final record being below .500. The Tigers have limited offense to go with their 22-21 record. And the record likely will be around .500 most of the final three quarters of the season.
Their pitching seems fine-- barring injuries. The division is weak-- Cleveland is the leader right? The American League is weak-- Cleveland has the best record, right? The only team in the majors impressing me so far is Philadelphia. The rest of them show me plenty of flaws.
The Yankees and Red Sox are the most overpaid of any of the teams. And former Homer High School star Josh Collmenter is off to a great start with the Arizona Diamondbacks-- a 0.69 earned run average thus far-- I hope he keeps up the good work and is the rookie of the year.
