Back From South Carolina

I'd been in South Carolina before-- but only because we stayed there for a night before watching the Masters in 1986... but last week I spent seven days in Charleston and Myrtle Beach-- both hot and both crowded but after all it's July.  The biggest story wasn't sports-- it was Casey Anthony and the public there was enthralled like the public here.

College of Charleston and the Citadel are in Charloeston-- and College of Charleston has a gorgeous baseball facility-- I thought it was the minor league team's venue-- but the class A Charleston team doesn't play in a stadium nearly as nice.  I wasn't impressed with Myrtle Beach-- a ghetto of mid range hotels up and down the ocean for several miles-- too crowded, too hot and not that great of accomodations.  But in the summer time, the populace of the East Coast and the south turn to the area.

Next up is Washington, D. C. in August for a couple of days and then to New Hampshire.  We did Washington last year and it was great.  This year we're going back because there is so much to see and down.  Maybe the Tigers at Baltimore on August 13th-- sounds like a good time.  I'd love to see the Washington Nationals but the schedule doesn't work out.  Summer fun for everyone and there's plenty left thankfully...

That's why us South Carolinians refer to Myrtle Beach as the Redneck Riviera! Most of us travel to the other beaches in SC.
