Another Unique MSU Hoop Idea

First the aircraft carrier, then the air force base in Germany.  Next season Michigan State's men's basketball team likely will open in the home of the Dallas Cowboys.  And it won't be a single game either.

MSU athletic director Mark Hollis wants something different to begin the season which ends with the Final Four in April, 2014 in the Cowboys' 105,000 seat arena.  He is planning on having four games played simultaneously over Veterans' Day weekend.  He thinks he has seven other schools willing to participate.  He wants to invite military personnel from 12 bases around the Dallas area to attend.

No pairings have been set but the games would begin 15 minutes apart on courts set up on the football field with bleachers in between.  It would make for a 3-hour television program.  You know the Spartans will have a gaudy opening matchup one way or another.  It's not a done deal yet but it's heading that way because college basketball now opens on Veteran's Day weekend and MSU likes to be involved in special events.  And the aircraft carrier games seem to be running their course.
