Amazing What MSU Hockey Needs to Make Tourney

It will be an anxious week end for MSU's hockey team.  The Spartans have never won a playoff game for their seniors and the only way it happens now is in the NCAA tournament.  MSU has not been in the 16-team field since 2008.  And this year is no lock after MSU was bounced out of the CCHA playoffs last week end in two games, 10-1 by Miami of Ohio.

MSU has released a sheet of possibilities, teams to root for and against in various conference play offs this week end.  A combination is needed for MSU to have an adequate pair wise rating to make the field.  It is very possible but MSU could also be left out as well.  The tournament selection show is set for noon on Sunday on ESPN U.  MSU has a 19-15-4 over all, compared with 15-19-4 last year when the Spartans finished in 10th place in the CCHA and coach Rick Comley was asked to retire.  Hunch.... MSU makes the field as a fourth seed and plays in the Green Bay regional.  The Frozen Four is set for April 5-7 in Tampa.
