Wow! What a deal Butch Jones gets at Tennessee. He has a 23-14 record at Cincinnati in three seasons, hardly eye popping. And Tennessee forks over $18 million for six years-- $3 million per. Plus he gets $3 million per year for his assistant coaches. Amazing how starved Tennessee is, and yet Jones is nowhere near the first choice the Vols had in mind.
But he's in the right place at the right time. He turned down Colorado-- about $2 million per and that seems like a graveyard job to me and it isn't filled yet. Colorado has a long way to go to have any semblence of success in the PAC 12. Tennessee is a good job prospect because I think the school's tradition and commitment can get it competitive in the SEC. Whether Jones can do it or not remains to be seen. But the money doled out for a coach of his record suprises me to say the least.
