On this high school recruit signing day, Wednesday, Adam Coon of Fowlerville stands out to me. He is a three sport star at his school, but he signed a wrestling tender to compete at Michigan next season. Coon is a heavyweight and well spoken. He will study aerospace engineering. He wants to be an astronaut.
Coon discussed his decision Wednesday at a ceremony at the school where he also was given a Michigan birthday cake since Wednesday marks his 18th birthday. Coon wants to help design space shuttles and fly them into space for all sizes of humans, like he says, people as big as himself. I wouldn't bet against him. He is at ease being interviewed and he seems eager and determined. He may be a great wrestler for the Wolverines but maybe one day he'll be known for something more significant than his athletic achievements.
