Jake Boss, Jr. is making his MSU baseball team's trip to California for the NCAA Regionals this weekend a family affair. In the travel party of 40 Wednesday, Jake's family was in the group, his mother and father too. It's a tough day of travel-- a Detroit flight to Los Angeles and connector to San Francisco. The Spartans play at Stanford in nearby Palo Alto.
MSU cannot host a Super Regional the following week end if it wins this round because it does not have lights at McLane Stadium-- it's mandatory. Maybe next year MSU needs to see if the Lugnuts can keep the Super Regional week end open in case the team gets that far so as to use Cooley Law School Stadium. Boss is nervous about the upcoming amateur draft-- he figures he might well lose junior Torsten Boss and hopes incoming freshman pitcher Justin Alleman of Holt will opt to play in college before signing.
