The conference basketball tournaments are a hassle for the best teams. Syracuse loses to Georgetown and the Hoyas had been in a slump themselves. So does Syracuse now lose its shot at a number one seed when the NCAA pairings are revealed Sunday night? Rumblings that Iowa will fire men's basketball coach Todd Lickliter and his team lost 59-52 against Michigan Thursday in the Big Ten tournament's first game. Iowa lost six of its last seven, attendance is terrible in Iowa City and is there any hope for the future? Stay tuned. Michigan shot 6 for 25 from three point land and couldn't hit a thing in the final five minutes-- but the Hawkeyes were so far behind it didn't matter by then. Manny Harris had 22 points after being invisible at Michigan State on Sunday. Good luck to Michigan getting past Ohio State Friday though, then the two meet at noon. Apparently Tiger Woods is about to return to golf. He may play the Tavistock country club event over two days next week in Orlando, a silly two day deal among pros from private clubs. That would ease him into the Arnold Palmer Invitational near his Bay Hill home in two weeks. Woods has hired former President press secretary Ari Fleischer to help him with public relations issues and Fleischer earlier helped Mark McGwire work his way back into baseball. The NCAA tournament could be one upped down the stretch by none other than Tiger Woods. Predictions for boys district title games Friday-- Holt over Grand Ledge by 10, Eastern over Waverly by 12 and Sexton over Lansing Catholic by 18. |
